Houston brought its own sound to the stage. Remixd Magazine reports that Don Toliver joined Usher and Chris Brown during the second night of the R&B Tour’s Houston stop. The report also describes Bun B and Slim Thug appearing during the first night.
For a show built around major catalogs, hometown guests give the audience another reason to remember the night. The songs may travel around the world, but a city still wants to hear itself in the performance.
Amplifier’s take: a strong concert is more than a sequence of hits. The best guest appearances connect the headliners to the place they are playing. That is something independent promoters can build into their events too: make room for the local artists and stories the audience already knows.
