Jodeci is turning the 35th anniversary of Forever My Lady into a full U.S. celebration. The influential R&B group is preparing for a fall tour centered on the 1991 debut album that helped define the sound and attitude of a new era in male vocal-group R&B.

The current tour schedule begins October 24 at The Masonic in San Francisco and moves through major U.S. markets before a December homecoming in Charlotte. The itinerary includes stops in Los Angeles, Chicago, Detroit, the Washington area, Jersey City, Baltimore, Memphis, Houston, New Orleans, Miami Beach and other cities.

Not every favorite will fit

In a new interview with People, members Dalvin DeGrate and K-Ci discussed the challenge of building a show from a catalog that stretches well beyond the anniversary album. They said the group wants the set to feel cohesive rather than simply trying to play every requested song, and the song list may change from night to night.

That is a familiar problem for legacy acts with deep catalogs: an anniversary provides a clear narrative, but the audience often arrives expecting hits from multiple albums and eras.

Forever My Lady remains the foundation. The album’s mix of gospel-rooted singing, hip-hop attitude and romantic R&B helped set the template for countless groups that followed.

Amplifier Take: Anniversary tours work best when they are more than nostalgia. Jodeci’s catalog still sounds connected to the R&B that followed it, which gives this run the chance to function as both a celebration and a reminder of how much the group changed the genre.
